Doosan Infracore Wins Orders For Excavators From China
Doosan Infracore has announced that it has recently won orders for a total of twenty large excavators in various regions of China including Qinghai in northwestern China Inner Mongolia in northern China and Shanxi in eastern China. In the Qinghai Province an operator of a mining equipment rental business ordered six large excavators including five 80-ton excavators (DX800LC-9C) and one 50-ton excavator (DX520LC-9C). In Inner Mongolia Doosan Infracore has sold three 80-ton excavators to a mining and construction equipment rental company following its successful conclusion of a sales contract with a construction company in Shanxi Province for eleven excavators including six 49 ton excavators (DX490LC-9C) two 45-ton excavators (DX450LC-9C) and three 36-ton excavators (DX360LC-9C). Although the Chinese construction machinery market stagnated from January to February due to the COVID-19 pandemic it rebounded in March and has been recovering rapidly ever since. In March the Chinese excavator market reached 46201 units the highest monthly figure ever recorded. The industry anticipates that the annual sales volume of excavators in China will surpass the 2019 record of 200000 units per year amid expectations about the government’s stimulus packages.
Cummins and XCMG Collaborate to Build Electric Excavator
Cummins collaborated with XCMG to design and build the 3.5 ton electric excavator which will serve as a technology demonstrator. Often operating on work sites in densely populated towns and cities around the globe construction equipment must meet stringent emissions requirements and keep noise and disruption to a minimum while getting the job done. The new electric excavator is suitable for working conditions that require more stringent environmental standards and noise reductions. Powered by Cummins BM5.7E battery modules the excavator has 45 kWh of battery power. Each battery module is designed for very high shock and vibration capability to endure the harsh conditions of the construction environment. Precise matching between motor and hydraulic system creates an efficient reliable and quiet drive system making it ideal for use in urban and suburban construction. On a single charge of less than six hours the excavator meets operational needs for a full 8-hour shift. Short charge time means that equipment can be charged overnight eliminating downtime and taking advantage of off-peak energy savings.
XCMG Excavators and Backhoe Loaders Arrive in KSA
Kanoo Machinery a division of Kanoo Industrial and Energy has received in Saudi Arabia the first batch of XCMG excavators and backhoe loaders. Earlier this year Kanoo Machinery signed an agreement to distribute machinery equipment manufactured by the Chinese giant Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co. Ltd (XCMG) the 6th largest machinery company in the world. The distribution agreement covers all KSA provinces. Kanoo Machinery one of the leading machinery distributors in the region will be engaged in marketing selling and offering after-market support for the excavator series backhoe loaders and skid steer loaders manufactured by XCMG.
Volvo CE helps restore Florida's Everglades to former glory
The construction of the C- water reservoir is part of the giant hydrological restoration project taking place in the Everglades. Dozens of Volvo CE machines are on site building the reservoir set to be ready in 2023. Watch the whole story in the new episode of The Megaproject Listing: Restoring the Everglades. Since 1882 the Everglades have been drained for farming and it is now half the size it was a century ago. But that’s changing. One of largest ecosystem restoration projects in the U.S. in currently underway. The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan began 20 years ago and is a giant hydrological restoration project consisting of among other things the build of a new basin storage reservoir in the Caloosahatchee estuary called the C-43 water reservoir project. When complete the reservoir which is spread over 40km2 will hold excess water from a nearby lake where it will be treated and then released during the dry season. In total the dam will be able to hold 200 billion liters of water. Up to the challenge Working on a construction project virtually the size of Manhattan comes with its share of dilemmas. And the hundreds of canals that have to be navigated during both rainy and dry seasons pose even more challenges. Massimo Bugliosi Project Director with Lane Construction-Salini Impregilo is the one in charge of solving these issues. He says preparation is essential and relies on the dependable performance of Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) machines. There are currently 42 Volvo CE machines working on the construction of the C-43 water reservoir in the Everglades – part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. Volvo CE machines are versatile and up to the toughest of challenges. “The key is planning and properly sequencing activities in the right way and the equipment must be versatile – Volvo machine are up to the challenge” he says. Currently there are 42 machines from Volvo CE working on the C-43 water reservoir project. This includes a mix of A45 articulated haulers and EC750E 75-ton excavators– with more on the way. “We chose to use Volvo equipment because it is versatile and can handle the mixes of different kinds of soil” explains Massimo Bugliosi. Another challenge is something that no-one can rule over. The weather in South Florida can be rough and unpredictable – not to mention hurricanes coming to visit annually. But this is no surprise to the guys at Lane Construction-Salini Impregilo who are well aware of the necessary precautions. A tangible difference The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan will boost the quality of life for humans and wildlife alike. The Everglades is home to more that 350 species of birds 50 unique reptiles – and that’s not all. Every year more than one million visitors from around the world flock to the Everglades helping to drive a rich economy in tourism and recreation. This natural reservoir also provides drinking water for southern Florida’s local population – of 8 million. This ecosystem restoration venture is a huge step towards creating a sustainable future where human expansion no longer poses a threat. “To have the opportunity to serve as an essential supplier on a project of substantial environmental impact; is something we all strive for” says Stephanie McCall Vice President Key Accounts Region North America. “Knowing that Volvo CE and our local dealer Alta Equipment is working to preserve the Everglades water estuaries and wildlife ecosystems for generations to come is by far the most rewarding work we could be a part of. ”
