The 7th Edition of GIS, which will take place in Piacenza (Italy) from 3rd to 5th October

With over 35.000 sqm. of exhibit space and more than 400 exhibitors, GIS is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a record edition confirming its leadership as the biggest European event dedicated to the cranes & access the industrial & port handling equipment and the specialized transport users.

Mobile Cranes, Tower Cranes, Aerial Platforms, Telehandlers and Oleodynamic/Electronic Components, but also Overhead Cranes, Remote Controls, Forklifts, AGV, Truck & Trailers, Tyres, Port Handling Equipment and Specialized Transport Vehicles will be on display at Piacenza Expo, filling up - for the first time - also the Hall N°3 (Pavilion and relevant new outside area) of the exhibition centre.

The outstanding result has been achieved thanks to the peculiar format of GIS which attracts specifiers and users coming from a wide range of different industries: lifting and specialized transport contractors, large and small rental companies, construction and building contractors, precast concrete firms, steel mills and metal trading companies, oil & gas and power generation operators, plastics, rubber and converting technical managers, plant construction and maintenance contractors, removal and breakdown service firms, waste and scrap (ferrous and not) collecting operators, forestry and wood trading companies, but also port and intermodal terminals, railway companies, logistic managers, airport logistic & ground support technicians, shipyards, tourist marinas, but also gardening and tree-care and public lighting companies, Firefighting Brigades, Civil Protection and Italian Armed Forces Officials.

About that, we are very pleased to announce that - for the first time - the Italian Army will exhibit at the Piacenza Show, bringing the lifting and handling equipment they use, not only for their institutional activities (in Italy and abroad), but also for the civil protection ones shown immediately after natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, bridge collapses etc.

“The trust of a growing number of entrepreneurs and the support received by Italian and international associations (such as ESTA and IPAF)“, comments Fabio Potestà of MediaPoint - GIS organizer -“is consolidating GIS as a not-to-be-missed biennial event for all those companies (Italian or foreign) that use machineries and equipment on display at the show. To confirm the growing interest of international operators towards GIS, for the first time ESTA, the leading European association for the abnormal road transport and mobile crane rental industry, will organize its 2 days Autumn Meeting inside the exhibition centre, granting the over 420 GIS exhibitors a great opportunity to meet extremely important non Italian potential buyers. Italy remains the second biggest manufacturing Country in Europe” - underlines Fabio Potestà – “and all companies need machines and lifting equipment, mechanized logistics and heavy transport vehicles, in order to bring heavy loads to be shipped from the Italian ports to the final destinations. It is worth reminding that GIS is officially supported by 3 very important institutional Bodies: the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Labour, but also by the Italian Army and by over 50 Italian main trade associations”.

For the 7th edition of GIS too, a full programme of technical seminars and conferences (also related to operators’ training and safety issues) is foreseen: some of them are organised with the support of important Italian industry associations and this will certainly contribute to attract more qualified operators of the different sectors.

Amongst the innovations on display at GIS there will be a small exhibition area in the Hall 3 also dedicated to Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs), the self-propelled remote-controlled vehicles that represent the future of the material handling market, being AGV more and more often used by large- scale distribution companies, logistics and intermodal freight transportation firms, along with the automotive, ceramics, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, chemistry hospital, mechanical, plastic film, paper, clothing, wood and paint industries.

Last but not least, GIS is not only “exhibition & conference”. Alongside the show, 3 important Gala Dinners are organized in the new stunning location of Palazzo Gotico (Piazza Cavalli, in the centre of Piacenza):

ITALPLATFORM-Italian Access Platform Awards which will be held in the evening of Wednesday, October 2nd, during which not only access platforms users will be awarded for the projects they finalized during the past 18 months in Italy, but also entrepreneurs and top managers for their innovations and business careers.

ITALA-Italian Terminal And Logistic Awards will be held in the evening of October 3rd. Awards will be delivered to those companies and entrepreneurs involved in port, logistic and intermodal services, recognizing their management qualities and the strategic importance for the national economy.

ILTA-Italian Lifting and Transportation Awards which will be held in the evening of October 4th during which Italian lifting and transportation contractors will be awarded for the projects they finalised during the past 18 months in Italy and abroad, as well as entrepreneurs and top managers for their innovations and business careers.
