Kenya is under rapid development in its infrastructure, urbanization, economic zone, industrial parks, commercial and residential buildings and tourism resorts. The demand for building construction materials and machinery has witnessed a precipitous rise. 

Global Imports in Kenya increased to 141809.92 million KES in December from 138151 million KES in November of 2017. Imports in Kenya averaged 69836.37 million KES from 1998 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 165573 million KES in July of 2017 and a record low of 13453 million KES in January of 1999. Kenya imports mostly machinery and construction equipment, iron and steel, petroleum products, motor vehicles, resins and plastics. Kenya’s main import partners are India, China, UAE, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, United States and Japan.

According to the World Bank, infrastructure is the key to Africa’s economic turnaround and will play an even greater role in the continent’s continued development. Kenya, in particular, is making giant strides in infrastructure and urbanization, with demarcated economic zones, commercial and residential buildings, and resorts for tourists. The country’s infrastructure and construction industry value is expected to double between 2018 and 2020. There has already been a spike in the demand for building material and machinery.
