The Big 5 Construction Events In Africa Postponed To 2021

dmg events announce new dates for The Big 5 Construct Nigeria, The Big 5 Construct Egypt, and The Big 5 Construct Kenya

Dubai, July 27, 2020: Following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic dmg events, the organisers of The Big 5 portfolio of construction events in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, announce the postponement of their events taking place in Africa in 2020: The Big 5 Construct Nigeria, The Big 5 Construct Egypt, and The Big 5 Construct Kenya.

With the safety and well-being of all participants and staff being at the heart of the decision, these annual trade events connecting the global construction community in the African continent will next be held on the following dates:

  • The Big 5 Construct Nigeria, 8 - 10 June, 2021
  • The Big 5 Construct Egypt, 27 – 29 June, 2021
  • The Big 5 Construct Kenya, 3 - 5 November, 2021

Muhammed Kazi, Vice President – Construction at dmg events, says:

“As we pursue our mission to connect and empower the construction industry, the safety and well-being of our exhibitors, visitors, partners and employees remains our utmost priority. In the wake of the current coronavirus pandemic and in consultation with our key stakeholders, we believe that it is in the best interest of all the parties involved to postpone The Big 5 events in Africa that were scheduled in 2020.”

Over the past months, the escalation of the Covid-19 pandemic both locally and internationally has determined restrictions to large gatherings, including events, as well as travel bans in many countries and companies. While several countries worldwide are currently easing these restrictions, the situation remains fluid.

“After the successful launch of The Big 5 in Kenya, Egypt and Nigeria over the past years, this was not an easy decision to take,” Kazi adds. “We understand how crucial our exhibition is for the construction community we serve but feel our audiences will understand” The new dates are intended to allow participants to plan ahead and come together for trade events that will effectively support businesses and construction professionals to thrive in the post-Covid-19 world.

Meanwhile, The Big 5 will continue serving and connecting its community through a number of innovative activities and platforms. Following the launch of The Big 5 Digital Construction Festival Africa on July 21-23, the first of its kind gathering online thousands of industry leaders, decision makers, manufacturers and professionals from Africa and beyond, The Big 5 will host “The Big 5 Digital Festival Global – Redefining Construction” on November 23 -26 to provide exceptional content, great networking opportunities and a wide range of product previews.
