More than 20 different iterations of converted Ford commercial vehicles (CVs) were on show at Dubai Autodrome recently, as Ranger, Transit, and Super Duty showcased the capability and versatility of the brand’s line-up.

Featuring various displays from armoured vehicles on the F-Series platform, to modular racking systems, ambulances, and refrigerator vans on a Transit base, the event brought major vehicle modifiers and conversion companies together to display Ford’s commercial vehicle range, and highlight the benefits of adopting Ford CVs as the vehicle of choice.

The day also introduced the Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) programme to all convertors in attendance.

Bringing together Middle East distributors and converters in one place on such a unique occasion stands to strengthen the relationship between the two, and to enhance their understanding of one another, particularly in the varied and versatile conversion opportunities that come with Ford commercial vehicles.

A varied and versatile group of modifiers and converters took part in the event, including ambulance conversions by Bristol, Ferno, Profile, and NAFFCO – which also displayed its rapid intervention vehicle – a wheelchair access bus by Inclusion Services, Al Furat refrigerated van and mobile service van, and a mobile office by TACME for Dubai Maritime City. STREIT’s three huge armoured vehicles on site went some way to demonstrating the unrivalled range of adaptability available to Ford vehicles.

“We chose the Ford Transit for our ambulance as it offers excellent versatility and features equipment that other manufacturers can’t offer,” said Saad Elkhayyat, Engineering Manager at Bristol. “It also comes with great value for money, and suits our needs perfectly.”

Also showcasing its mobile service Transit van was AutoPro, and Al Tayer, which added a luxury passenger bus, mobile service F550 truck, and F550 recovery truck to its display. Modul Systems teamed up with Sedana to highlight Transit’s aptitude for van racking systems, Dubz showcased its mobile baggage scanner, NSV brought its modified Tourneo Custom to the Dubai Autodrome event, and Sand Dance Tyres presented its mobile tyre repair van.

“The Ford Converter Day event is an important opportunity to really showcase the true versatility of Ford’s commercial vehicle range, but also to bring our distributors and converters together to help drive future business,” said Mahendra Menon, Regional Commercial Vehicles Operations Manager, Ford Middle East and Africa. “To have so varied a range of conversions – from armoured vehicles to refrigerated vans – highlights the viability of Ford as the vehicle of choice, regardless of our customer business demands.”
