Holcim UK Adds Electric LiuGong Loaders To Support Decarbonisation

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - In an attempt to cut emissions and switch to a lower-carbon fleet, Holcim UK is deploying 20 electric wheel loaders across its plants.

After a year of testing in Somerset's Callow Quarry, the company unveiled the LiuGong 870HE, one of the biggest battery-powered devices of its kind.

The loaders can run for up to nine hours and can be recharged in around eighty minutes thanks to its 423kWh battery. Each machine is built to function in harsh environments and has a 4.7 cubic meter bucket capacity.

Once the machines have shown to be effective in difficult terrain, such as steep inclines and a variety of workloads, they will be deployed across specific aggregate and asphalt sites.

With the machines' zero-emission performance and reduced running costs, Holcim UK said that the installation of electric equipment aids its larger plan to reduce emissions and increase efficiency.

The deployment boosts the company's fleet of electric vehicles, including mixer trucks, cement lorries, and other site equipment, building on previous cooperation with LiuGong.
