Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Etihad Rail has started a national campaign to get logistics companies, manufacturers, and heavy industry to switch long-haul freight from driving to rail. This is because the UAE's transportation networks are getting more and more crowded.
The effort comes at a time when the country's transportation and industry sectors are growing quickly. This has made major roads more crowded, increased the risk of supply problems, and raised the cost of doing business.
Etihad Rail stated that its nearly 900 km freight network connects ports, industrial zones, and transport hubs directly, making it possible for large and high-volume goods to be moved on set dates.
Each freight train can take as much as 300 big trucks' worth of cargo. This helps keep the roads from getting too crowded and gives makers who need to meet tight deadlines more confidence in their supply chains.
Etihad Rail said the goal of the effort is to restore balance to the transportation system, with road travel still being an important part of last-mile service.
The project fits in with the country's plans to make supply chains more stable, make businesses more competitive, and get transportation systems ready for more trade.
