Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Hitachi Construction Machinery stated that three EH5000 rigid dump trucks working at the Lumwana Copper Mine in Zambia had each reached 100,000 operational hours, illustrating the resilience of the vehicles under tough mining circumstances.
Delivered in 2007, the trucks have been working at the Barrick Mining Corporation copper mine where 24 EH5000 dump trucks are employed in continuous mining operations.
Hitachi Construction Machinery Zambia marked the milestone with a ceremony in the mine congratulating operators, engineers and maintenance personnel who have supported the fleet for over two decades.
Located in northwestern Zambia, the Lumwana Copper Mine has severe working circumstances such as steep haul roads, long wet seasons, and abrasive dust, making the accomplishment a notable milestone for huge mining trucks.
Barrick Mining said the performance of the EH5000 fleet and the aftersales assistance from Hitachi Construction Machinery Zambia were important to ensuring excellent equipment availability for the entire life of the trucks.
This milestone further strengthens Hitachi Construction Machinery’s long-standing cooperation with Barrick Mining and its commitment to serve large-scale mining operations throughout Africa.
