Sandvik To Supply 16 D25KX Drill Rigs For Zambia Copper Mine

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Sandvik has been selected to provide 16 Sandvik D25KX rigs to a major copper mining facility in Zambia.

The purchase agreement was finalized in 2025, with delivery taking place in stages during 2026. The agreement includes Sandvik's remote monitoring service, operator training, and a year of technical support and replacement parts to assure uptime and drilling performance.

The new rigs will join the mine's existing fleet of Sandvik D25KS drills and Pantera DP1500i units, which have been in service since 2016. The additional equipment will help to support a recently completed expansion that includes a new processing facility, smelting upgrades, and the building of a new open pit.

The Sandvik D25KX is a diesel-powered, crawler-mounted down-the-hole rotary drill with hole diameters ranging from 127 to 203 mm and a maximum drilling depth of 27 m. The rig is equipped with a high-pressure air compressor, heavy-duty pulldown chains, and a reinforced mast designed for tough mining environments.
