Hitachi Construction Machinery To Launch LANDCROS R&D Centre In Germany

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Hitachi Construction Machinery announced the formation of a completely owned European development firm under its LANDCROS brand in Germany on January 1, 2026, to speed research and development of battery-powered excavators, ICT-enabled equipment, and associated technologies.

The center, to be located in the state of Hesse, will act as a regional research hub focusing on advanced market needs in Europe, where demand for low-emission and digitally connected construction equipment is increasing owing to rigorous environmental and industrial restrictions.

The new LANDCROS development center will be in charge of creating battery-powered excavators and ICT-compatible goods, while an existing German joint venture will continue to concentrate on special-purpose equipment for the European market.

The business said that the center would be financed at 2 million euros and will initially employ about 15 individuals, with aspirations to increase to over 100 developers over time, attracting talent from the construction machines and automotive industries.

The move represents the first time a new business has been established under the LANDCROS brand, and it aligns with the group's objective to accelerate the implementation of environmentally friendly and digitally connected construction machines.
