Kuwait Activates Emergency Customs Plan To Maintain Supply Chains

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Kuwait's General Administration of Customs has triggered an emergency plan to preserve the flow of commodities through the country's ports after interruptions caused by regional tensions.

Following the suspension of air trade, the efforts include reorganizing customs channels and shifting air cargo shipments to ground transit via Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations and adjacent states.

To optimize operating capacity, shipments formerly headed for Kuwait by air are now delivered by truck across land crossings, with clearing processes performed at air cargo customs facilities.

According to authorities, supplies are still arriving via land ports as usual, and marine cargo that arrived before to the escalation are being processed to assist local supply and preserve strategic stockpiles.

From February 28 to March 21, customs officials cleared around 417 tonnes of medical goods, 103,775 tons of food items, and 24,400 tonnes of fresh fruit.

Kuwait said customs procedures are running around the clock, with officials monitoring trade flows to guarantee the continuous passage of products despite persisting issues at ports and airports.
