500 SANY Machines For Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway

Recently, Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project has reached a critical stage following the breakthrough of tunnel No.3. There are currently more than 500 SANY machines working on the construction of the project in Indonesia.“Eighty percent of the equipment used in this project is provided by Sany,” said LIU Haitao, Head of a key subcontractor of this project.

Sany provides a wide range of machines that are versatile and can handle the mixes of different kinds of soil. Sany 215C excavators play a key role in the breakthrough of tunnel No.5, which has to be completed with traditional excavation methods because of the soft soil, and Sany STR318H roadheaders help the tunneling for hard rock in tunnel No.11.

Apart from high-quality equipment, Sany also supports the project with tailored service. Fifteen service engineers stationed at the construction site in addition to 5 specially designated vehicles and 3 service branches along the line. “We work and sometimes even live on the job site. Many people think we are workaholics but that's how we get work done,” said Liu Jun, Sany's Service Engineer. He and his colleagues worked at the jobsite day and night, completed the concrete placing within 48 hours and reduced the cost by 3 million RMB.

This project also offers opportunities for the local community to improve labor force quality. “Local people are keen to be operators in the project, through this job, they can improve their skills to find a better job in the future,” said LIANG Jing, Director of the Sales at Sany Indonesia BU. In the past 5 years, Sany supported the training of local operators with a supply of equipment, which benefits hundreds of local people.

“Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway is a landmark infrastructure project of the partnership and friendship between China and Indonesia. We believe it sets a very good example for Asian countries on cooperation,” added Rini Mariani Soemarno, the then Indonesian Minister of State-owned Enterprises.

About Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project

Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway is expected to connect Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, and the textile hub of Bandung, covering a distance of over 140 kilometers, with a total investment amount to $6 billion. The high-speed railway that has a designed speed of 350 km/h is Indonesia's first, and also Southeast Asia's first high-speed rail project. When completed, the line will shorten passenger travel time from Jakarta to Bandung to about 40 minutes.
