Byrne Leading The Way For Health And Safety Standards In The Middle East

Byrne are leading the way for Health and Safety standards in the Middle East with their recent completion of ISO 45001 2018.

The ISO 45001 2018 certification specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system and gives guidance for its use. It enables organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injuries and ill health, proactively improving its OH&S performance. The certification establishes systematic processes to determine the hazards and OH&S risks associated with an organization’s activities, seeking to eliminate them, or putting in controls to minimize their potential effects.

According to the International Labor Organization, more than 7,600 people die from work-related accidents or diseases every single day. That’s why an ISO committee of occupational health & safety experts set to work to develop an International Standard with the potential to save almost three million lives each year.

Steve Caygill, Regional General Manager UAE, Oman & Group Head Specialist Divisions at Byrne says “Byrne’s recent completion of ISO 45001 2018 demonstrates the company’s commitment to reducing risks in the workplace and creating safer working conditions for all. This certification is acknowledged worldwide which lends recognition to Byrne for having achieved an international benchmark. Furthermore, the completion of ISO 45001 2018 aligns with Byrne’s mission of sustaining an organization that is built around best practice. This coupled with our other ISO certifications obtained continues to re-inforce Byrne’s committed and sustained drive towards best international practices”.

Having the most up-to-date occupational health and safety standard exemplifies a level of excellence and demonstrates an organization that is serious about improving employee safety, reducing workplace risks and creating better, safer working conditions. It ensures an organization will evaluate its OH&S performance and seek to improve it, through taking appropriate actions. It also encourages workers to take an active role in OH&S matters. Collectively, these measures cement a company’s reputation as a safe place to work as well as provide numerous benefits such as increasing awareness of OH&S risks and reducing downtime and the costs of disruption to operations.

Steve Caygill adds “Byrne’s commitment from head office towards these principles creates a ripple effect across the whole organization and ensures health and safety is paramount for everyone in the team, setting the benchmark for managing risks and being consciously aware of our activity and actions. Having a strong, consistent standard means that the organization is more efficient across the board and sets Byrne apart from others in the region, for the better”.
